For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Bare Dreams? How long has the band been around?
IA: Me (Itay) and Eldar were a part of a post-hardcore/metalcore group called Made By Past for about 3-4 years. Roee is also playing in a local band called Duso and Itamar is a part of Steve Morise, a loud underground punk act.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
IA: Itay picked up the name Bare Dreams way before the band was even formed. He used to label the audio projects on his computer as “Bare Dreams 1”, “Bare Dreams 2”, etc.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
IA: Most of the time Itay writes the structures of the songs (Lyrics & Harmony) and once he’s done we all get together to arrange and write or reshape the song. Our E.P. Au Revoir is talking about saying goodbye. It takes you through the whole process of regret, acceptance, sadness etc. Those topics already changed the moment we started writing new materials.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
IA: Boston Manor, Mayday Parade, Trash Boat and also many ‘older’ bands like NOFX, No Trigger etc.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
IA: For me (Itay) I think seeing Useless ID for the first time when I was 12 was a game changer. The energy they brought on stage made me want to perform.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc
IA: We like to have a drink before every show just to get the mood going. I do vocal warm ups and makes sure to stay hydrated.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
IA: The sold out show we had in TLV a couple months back was the biggest highlight so far. The crowd went absolutely nuts!
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
IA: I think touring with Paramore would be a great experience. We grew up listening to them and they look so fun to hang out with.
