or starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Astra The 22s? How long has the band been around?
Eric Jayk was the guitarist in Sandra Bernhard (the comedian/actress/singers) rock band. He also founded the hard rock band, Wildstreet in 2007.
Kerija has worked on her own projects, (bands/solo) and as a session singer.
The band began in 2014, and that year we put out two singles, an EP and two music videos. We have worked hard on this new release to further develop our sound and artistic identity. We think it rocks!
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
It was easy.. We looked at each other and said "Astra the 22's".
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
We both write the songs ..
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Prince, The Kills, Marilyn Manson, Michael Jackson, The White Stripes, Guns N' Roses...Nine Inch Nails, Crosses/Deftones, Dead Weather, Blondy, Simple Minds
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Eric says Aerosmith, Kerry says Michael Jackson
