For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Ashes of My Regrets? How long has the band been around?

None of us were ever really a part of a legit band before this. We all kind of tried to start bands beforehand but they never really worked out. And this band has been together since 2012 although the band didn’t really pick up until 2013

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

The idea behind the name is that there are things in life that you regret, but at the end of the day those regrets and mistakes make you who you are. You need to “set fire’ to all those things and keep pushing forward to a better you. And the name has never been changed.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

Chris mainly writes the lyrics and him and Brandon do a good portion of the instrumentation. The main topics for this EP is something like the exaggeration of certain human emotions like depression and anxiety. The topics could definitely change, it’s really written about life.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

There’s so many bands now that we listen to that inspire us, but to name a few right now I’d say Wage War, Memphis May Fire, and The Word Alive

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

For me it was the first time I ever saw Muse. They are such incredible musicians and they know how to put on a show. It just made me want to get on stage and instill that sense of excitement in other people they way they did to me.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

I always make sure to stretch my legs and fingers before a show. Too many times I’ve gotten off stage and my legs feel like they want to give out cause I was jumping around all set.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

For me it was either playing Warped Tour in 2015 or Starland Ballroom this past April. Both shows were huge for us in terms of goals we set for ourselves

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Asking Alexandria, Memphis May Fire, Miss May I, and Wage War. Asking Alexandria was one of the first metalcore bands I ever got really into. Memphis May Fire’s music has helped me get through some tough times. Miss May I was the first metal band I ever saw live. And Wage War is just a dope up and coming band.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Be sure to pick up our new EP “Caricatures” out November 4th!!
