Arlene Zelina is an Australian singer/songwriter widely known for her viral YouTube covers and her flawless vocals. At a young age, she starred in many musical theatre productions, television commercials, movies and music projects.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Arlene Zelina? How long has the band been around?
I've been a solo artist for my whole career! I've collaborated with many artists over the years but have always released solo music. I started singing and dancing classes when I was 3 years old so I haven't known any different.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
Arlene Zelina is my real name. First and middle name!
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
I write them and also collaborate with other songwriters. Most, if not all, of my songs come from personal experiences. Which means that over the years, the song topics definitely change. My upcoming single has a more mature outlook which is a super fun territory to get into. I love being able to explore love, relationships, heartbreak, world inspirations and everything in between.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
I love listening to a wide variety of music. I draw pieces of inspiration for so many different genres. From Celine Dion, to Khalid, Lady Gaga to Post Malone. My upcoming music dabbles in the Urban/Rnb direction so I've been listening to a lot of that!
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
One of my first ever concerts I went to as a child was Christina Aguilera. I remember watching her on stage and thinking this is exactly what I want to be doing. Her vocal power and overall presence was incredibly inspiring.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
I love to listen to music to get me excited for any show I do! I think building excitement and energy gives you so much more fuel to deliver a great performance. I'm also super regimented when it comes to my vocal warmup and a nice warm lemon and honey tea.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
I was the first Australian artist to be signed to Jason Derulo's record label, Future History. I had so many amazing experiences during that time and worked with some of the most iconic artists and producers. I also headlined YouTube's Next Generation Event in Sydney, Australia which showcased and celebrated the biggest music influencers.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Beyonce. Who wouldn't want to tour with Beyonce!? She delivers incredible performances and shows that are unbeatable. It's a visual and sound spectacular. I'd love to be able to do the same. And of course, Michael Jackson. Need I say more.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I'm super excited for my upcoming single, Dream Of Me. I hope it empowers women to explore their imagination and be confident and unapologetic about who they are!
