Another Day's Armor is an alternative metal band from New York. Combining the huge, mainstream sound of arena rock with borderline metal instrumental work, the band started to create a buzz for themselves with debut singles "Reflections" and "Simple As Sin."
Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band:
Logan Manganelli - Vocals
Nick Palma - Lead Guitar
Ryan Bicknell - Rhythm Guitar
Joe Grunski - Bass
Alec Keshishian - Drums
For starters, what bands were you a part of prior? How long has this band/group been around?
Ryan Bicknell: This is actually my first band. The rest of the guys have been in bands prior but I personally bounced back and forth between sports, weight lifting, and music in my teen years. I joined this band when I was 19 I believe so almost 5 years now. This past year we went through a rebranding and what not with having to replace our singer last year so it’s actually crazy to think I’ve known these guys for 5 years already haha
What’s the origin of the bands' name and have you changed the band’s name before?
Ryan Bicknell: It was thought of by an old member before I was even in the band. It has literally no meaning, they just thought it sounded cool. And we’ve thought about changing it before but wound up keeping it because we already had a small fan base that knew us so we didn’t want to start over with a new name.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Ryan Bicknell: Nick is the main songwriter instrumentally, and Logan writes all the lyrics and comes up with the vocal melodies. This past EP was about overcoming adversity since that’s really what we have been going through this past year. I’m sure future songs will be about different things, hopefully, we aren’t trying to overcome adversity for the rest of our careers that sounds terribly exhausting.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Ryan Bicknell: We’re inspired by everything and anything. As of right now, I think everyone is pretty stoked on Bring Me The Horizons new stuff. But then someone will find music from like 20 years ago to be inspiring so we just wind up being this mix of everything. It’s cool.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Ryan Bicknell: I remember watching Avenged Sevenfold’s “Bat Country” music video come on MTV when I was like 11 or 12 and I remember just watching in awe and thinking holy shit I have to do that.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
Ryan Bicknell: Usually just run through the songs on guitar. I’ll do a few vocal warm-ups to get my vocal cords ready for back up vocals and screams that I do in particular songs. Nothing crazy. I just like chillin’ out having a coffee or something before a show and relaxing.
What has been the biggest highlight of your career as a musician so far?
Ryan Bicknell: Probably this EP we just released. The response we’ve been getting to the songs is really awesome and we can see this record propelling is forward. We’re also announcing our tour for March this Saturday and that’s a cool milestone since it’s our first one together as a band.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Ryan Bicknell: I would personally have to say Avenged is on my bucket list. There’s plenty of bands I would love to tour but Sevenfold was the band that started it all for me so it would be total nostalgia for me. I think it would also be an incredible opportunity to learn more about the business and get some pointers on how to reach the great success that they have had in their careers.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Ryan Bicknell: Thank you for having me and if you haven’t already, go listen to ‘Phoenix’ on every digital platform, check out our merch on our website (www.anotherdaysarmor.com) and follow us on all our social media’s. We hope to see as many of you as we can out on the road this year!
