Abandoned By Bears is an easycore band from Sweden that combines the heaviest breakdowns with a classy touch of pop-punk!
Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
Freddy & Leon on vocals, Gustav on bas, Zeb on drums last but not least Jake & Alex on Guitars
For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Abandoned By Bears?
We have all played in various bands over the years, but nothing really worth mentioning. But i think the sound and mixture between hardcore and pop punk you can hear from us came kinda natural because of all the bands we played in before.
How long has the band been around?
We released our debut "You Need to Stick Up!" about one and a half year ago. But the idea for the band came around about 2 years ago when we all quit our old bands.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
The name "Abandoned By Bears" have been around since we pretty much started the band. I came up with the name when my former band had thoughts on changing our name, but instead we broke up. Later when Abandoned By Bears were starting to take form, I showed my idea for a name to the other guys. They all liked it and we decided to keep it.
Who writes your songs?
Everyone in the band helps out in the song writing process. It often starts out with a guitar riff from Gustav, Alex or Jake and then we just keep building on the songs together until it´s finished. We are lucky to have possibility to produce and master our songs on our own. Which also makes the writing process much more simple and accessible.
What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Friends, trouble and love basically. Whatever comes to mind at that point of time.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Personally the music that inspires me the most for the moment is probably "The Ghost Inside" & "Northlane". But when it comes to Abandoned By Bears, we are more aiming for a particular "sound" or "feeling", which could be a mixture of all kinds of different bands.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
When we're preparing for shows we usually just hang out, taking it easy and enjoying ourselves. Some leg flexing/stretching is required though.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
It may not be the biggest "highlight" for the band, but one of the funniest moments was when we recorded our music video for "Empty Bottles & Lost Battles". It was one crazy party I can tell you!
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
That´s a tough one, although i would really enjoy touring with Emmure because they are heavy as fuck and they all seem to be really down to earth guys.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We just want to take the opportunity to thank everyone who is supporting and believing in us. The New EP "When Nothing Goes Right, Go Left" will be out the 4th of March so stay tuned and share the bear!
