Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
Nick DeQuattro: Vocal/Guitar
Andrew Kershes: Vocal/Guitar
Henry Ford: Bass
Vince Verrico: Drums
For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to 3rd Time’s A Charm? How long has the band been around?
Out of the four of us, Vince was in a band called Breaking and Entering which was an alternative rock base type. Thus following Andrew, Henry, and Vince played in a band throughout the high school years. As a collective we have been around just under 4 years.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
The name really came from us wanting a catchy name with a number in it, but we realized pretty quickly that it was all of our third shot at being in a band. So the name we came up with then had meaning and stuck with us. The name has been the same since the beginning.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Nick and Andrew are the main writers of the lyrics in our songs. As for instruments, it’s really a group effort. One of us will come up with an idea and together we will sit down and play through the parts on each instrument and construct the instrumental parts of the songs. I really think our best songs come from that atmosphere of us composing them together. At first we were writing about girls and relationships, but recently we’ve been writing more about growing up and more personal things about our lives.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
With the four of us we each have a huge different musical background. The bands that are similar are Neck Deep, Blink 182, Trash Boat, Green Day and bands of the pop-punk nature. As far as differences, we listen to The Beatles, Rush, La Dispute, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Sorority Noise.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Each of us have a different inspiration such as Blink 182, Green Day, Rush, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
Most of the time some of us stretch along with Vince warms up his wrists by practicing rudiments on his practice pad.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
The biggest highlight was when we talked about setting up our first tour and executed it. It was a big change for us and we are really anxious to set up more tours in the future.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
It would probably be Blink 182. They were a huge part of an inspiration to us.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Through the countless shows that we’ve had, we’ve been to places we never probably would’ve went out of our way to see. Met people we never thought we would meet. And experienced things that a lot of people are probably be too afraid to try. Its been a great ride and were excited to see what happens next.
