Unsigned Spotlight: 3PM

Formed in the summer of 2012 in Baltimore, MD, 3PM created their own melodic, fresh pop punk / pop rock sound with influences from bands like Blink 182, Green Day, New Found Glory and Yellowcard. An energetic, young group, their attitudes and outlook on life show through in their catchy and upbeat lyrics.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Brennan Stark- Vocals and Bass

Scott Montgomery- Guitar

Brandon Millman- Drums

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to (insert band/artist name here)? How long has the band been around?

This is the first real band any of us have been in! We're coming up on our third year as a band this August.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

3PM is actually an acronym, but it's a secret!

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

We all equally contribute to the songwriting process. The topics we write about are true and meaningful to us due to their inspiration usually being drawn from real events in our lives. The cool part is that while these topics are super personal to each of us, so many people tell us they can easily relate to it which really instills a connection between our fans and us. We will always try to grow as songwriters and musicians, but even if the topics themselves change, the honesty and genuine thought behind them will always be something our fans can connect to!

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

After having the honor to play with All Time Low and being compared with them a lot recently, they have absolutely influenced the new music we're writing. Another band that has been influencing us is Forever The Sickest Kids. In fact, we just finished recording a brand new single with their bassist, Austin Bello and we think that their influence on us will shine through in this new song. We'll be releasing that sometime before Summer so stay tuned!

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

All of us have our personal influences that inspired us to start playing music, but as far as the band as a whole goes, artists such as Green Day and Blink 182 had a huge influence on us, what with being two crazy successful three piece pop-punk bands and all.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Brennan does vocal warm ups and jumps up and down a few time to loosen up, Scott stretches his legs and gets some water, and Brandon takes off his shirt!

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

This past summer was crazy for us. Not only did we get to play with All Time Low like mentioned above, but we got to play the MD date of the Vans Warped Tour and record/release our second full length album that we recorded with Paul Leavitt who actually produced All Time Low and bands such as Senses Fail and The Dangerous Summer. So the summer of 2014 was definitely our biggest highlight so far as a band!

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

We gained a TON of new fans at the All Time Low show we played at, so touring with them would be a dream come true. We met them and they're all super down to earth and genuine guys so they'd be super fun to tour with and learn from.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

We have a dinosaur as our mascot. His name's Derek, he gets all the ladies, and he's cooler than all of us combined. Be sure to follow us on all of our social media pages that can be found on our website, www.3pm-music.com!
