125 And I Love You! is a pop punk band based out of Pewamo, Michigan. Combining the attitude of old school Pop Punk with a modern twist, the band seeks a new lane in the punk scene.
Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
Trevor Thelen - Guitar/Vocals
Doug Fox - Bass
For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to 125 And I Love You!? How long has the band been around?
And Then We Die, Memories For Tomorrow, The Dresden Diaries, Enemies Among Us, Never Ending Avenue. We've been a band for about a year now.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
Trevor and Doug we're having a conversation about pop punk and stated that most songs in the genre were either 125 and I love you or 175 and I hate you (referring to the bpm of songs) and the name just stuck. We we're formerly Never Ending Avenue but changed the name after a lineup change.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
We both split writing almost equally. Typically you will hear us spouting off about suicide, existential crisis and relationships but also we have songs that we think are funny that probably go a little too far at times, but this bands all about having fun and not giving a shit what people think about it.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Alkaline Trio, blink-182, For The Win, Chaos Chaos, Oso Oso and a lot of old school pop punk bands.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
blink-182 got me through a very rough time in life where I attempted suicide and I think their music really inspires me to go out and live my life to the fullest and shake off criticism.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
Lots of stretching, and I no longer wear no show socks that fall off in my shoe.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
A lot of great praise from our album Skeptiks. I think we've had 5 reviews from some really cool publications and not a single bad thing has been said, which is really motivating for us to go out and top it.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
blink-182, Alkaline Trio, Panic! at the Disco, ADTR, or Fallout Boy. Because we grew up on a lot of those bands and it's always a blast to play with bands you're a fan of in our opinion. In previous bands I've played with In Hearts Wake, and Texas in July and it's so crazy to share the stage with a band you listen to everyday.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Yes! We are in the process of recording a cover, but we can't say yet what it is because we like to be mysterious.
