Track by Track: Stitched Up Heart - Darkness

Stitched Up Heart recently released their sophomore album Darkness on March 13th and we asked the band to tell us about each track. Check out their commentary on the album below.

Lost: It's about being lost in your own mind. You are so consumed by your thoughts that you get trapped there.

Warrior: Is a song dedicated to our military and veterans. It’s about the aftermath of war and how the things you see and go through affect your life. It’s for anyone struggling with PTSD and any other disabilities and sacrifices fighting for their country has caused.

This Skin: This was written about being uncomfortable in your own skin. Trying to hide behind tattoos so nobody can see the real person underneath. Not feeling that you fit in to society.

Darkness: "Darkness" has a very important place. It is dedicated to some close followers of the band who were struggling with not wanting to be alive. It was written for them to show they have made it through the dark times before and will make it out again, even stronger.

Dirty Secrets: It's about coming to terms with not really knowing what others are thinking, but being okay with it because there are some things you may just not want to know.

Problems: Like in the lyrics, it's about being married to your problems. You're consumed by tragedy happening to you constantly. Realizing you think in a negative pattern is the first step to solving your problems.

Bones: People expecting you to be what they want you to be. Throwing rocks at you to make themselves feel better only because they hurt inside as well.

My Demon: This is about understanding we are not all good inside all the time. Using the little devil on your shoulder to mischievously encourage you to keep pushing, even if it may not feel right. Being ok with not always being perfect.

Straitjacket: This is the kind of relationship that makes you a little crazy. A kind of love/hate relationship.

Dead Roses: "Dead Roses" is a love note written to anyone dealing with domestic violence. Letting them know it does get better. They can leave that situation and their world will be much better for it.

Crooked Halo: This one's obviously about not being an angel. You're somewhat of a troublemaker and know you’re a little messed up.
