Having started playing music at the early age of 4, self-taught vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jon Car has developed into a potent alternative rock act, led by an unforgettable vocal.
Ready For War
This track was inspired by my own battle with depression. It was written as a way to say enough is enough. I felt at the time that by putting my thoughts into a song that I could pour my heart and soul into, I would allow myself to push my issues away and really grow to recognize that there is more to life than today’s problems. There are tomorrow’s joys.
The Danger
A song about breaking my limits and pushing myself further than what I was comfortable doing. A lot of people refuse to go past what they deem "safe", never taking risks, always being satisfied with the bubble they call life. I myself was guilty of this as well, but I decided life was too short for the “what if’s”, and the “I could have’s”. I decided to sacrifice my own personal financial livelihood to make a record in the hopes of something coming out of it. I decided to break my own limits.
Walk it Off
This song is about how important it is to get up after a fall and keep moving. Life is hard. It takes what it wants, and we only get what we want by shaking it off and moving forward. From my own perspective, music has been a lifelong dream, but always being told to be realistic about my expectations dragged me down. Consistently being told my music wasn’t good enough just made me want to make something better.
Wild Things
This is one of my favorite tracks on the record. It started as an idea I got in the parking lot of a hardware store and grew into so much more. When we were writing this song, I really wanted something personal. I wanted to tell my story in hopes that someone would listen and realize that we hold the key to our own happiness. It seems difficult at times, but we really do choose where we want life to take us. We just have to decide to make it happen.
Now and Forever
Love should be something we can’t escape. No matter what the arguments from the night before, love should be something that overpowers all of the above. I wrote this song to express what true love should be. You should want to be there no matter what, no matter the hardships. You should be able to look at someone and say I want you forever and imagine your life together. Happiness takes work, but at its core, it should be easy and will always be worth it in the end.
