Folks are so heartless and calloused these days. We forget to feel shit because we are so obsessed with our own individual existence. Live for the common good of everyone. Those that speak out against violence and the state of our world aren't, its just that people don't want to hear it. Do not remain Voiceless.
2. The Taste:
Humans are creatures of habit. Some habits tend to become bad habits. Some Bad habits become our demons. We as humans tend to feed those demons because we think it will be okay if we just give in no matter the cost.
3. Public Enemy:
The classic case of not judging a book by its cover. The youth carry a huge burden. The older generation projects there issues on to the next. Instead of nurturing and giving them a chance the youth are condemned for being outspoken.
4. End Transmission:
There are multiple meanings to this song but the most common interpretation is that sometimes one has to step out of their shell and see themselves from the outside. Then and only then can we truly become the person we want to be. Sever the ties to your current reality and create one that fits your narrative.
5. Excuse Me:
This is a call to action of sorts. Thru the noise of politics, and social issues one has to step up and say Excuse Me. We speak about the Prison industrial complex, Poor educational standards, Overbearing policing, our drug dependence, and cutting through the noise of it all to just say that everyone is sick of being toyed with and used as some political tool or ploy.
What are you made of? What are you composed of. Take a look in yourself and find that fire and that spark. I wrote the lyrics while riding a train in NYC. Feeling mentally and physically spent. I began to think back on how far I have come in life. The inward reflection stirred a revolution which made really begin to see that I am strong enough to withstand any trial or tribulation I am approached with.
The monotony of everyday life. The mundane. The cycle of insanity. We as humans and citizens of this world seemed resigned to the fact that someone should make our minds up for us. We don't question the status quo enough. We are told who to hate, who to love, who worship, how to live where to live all while giving up freedoms all in the name of safety or misplaced patriotism. We will never evolve as a society if we refuse shed our former selves and progress.
People claim they have been through the rough and tumble just to seem cool. They want the admiration and adoration whilst never really experiencing any real adversity. They are Pretenders.
The media paints a pretty picture of what life should be or how one should live their life based on imagery. Divert from the false advertising that is modern media. Reject the lie.
10. In Spite of Doubt:
We and particularly me went through some very drastic and uncomfortable changes during the recording of"Narrative. In spite of doubt was a call out to those who thought we would not make it through the process including myself. We had to remind ourselves that we know who are and that we could do this.
Many a time during the course of my life I felt lost abandoned without hope. I have wrestled with extreme bouts of depression which I found out ran through my family. I was suicidal more than once. I attempted to end my life once. But despite this internal struggle I found a lifeline. I looked deep into myself and reminded myself of all the things I wanted out of life. The pros far outweighed the cons. I prayed intensely to god and begged every power in the universe to help pull me out of the hole I was in. None of that mattered because the truth I was looking for was there the whole time. I was my will to live. the spirit that lived within me. The I in I.
12. Into the Blue:
Whilst drowning in a shitty relationship I again had to be pulled out of the situation. Compromising your integrity, or your sanity just to keep someone happy is the worst thing you can do to yourself. I have a mortal fear of drowning.
