Kentucky's Aluxes have honed an ambitious array of influences from across post-hardcore and alternative rock, wowing fans with their instrumental dexterity and soaring three pronged vocal. They recently released their 40 Rabbit Tavern EP and we asked the band to tell us about each track. Check out their commentary below.
1. Boscage Boogie:
“Boscage Boogie” is about animals trying to take back the forest from humans in an all out war, and is a light commentary on the importance of maintaining a balance with nature, respecting it and taking care of it, as it takes care of us.
2. Could Be:
The song is about a fantasy or what if scenario. Like what if things did work out between us, this is what it could look like or be like. It’s a romantic idealization of a future that could be, while also recognizing that it might not be the most healthy ‘what if’ to be transfixed on.
3. Collapse:
“Collapse” is about pushing forward and never giving up on yourself. It can be really easy to let things pile up on you and weigh you down to where you just feel like giving up and letting everything collapse, but usually it’s in those moments where finding that extra bit of willpower to push on will really make a difference.
4. Avocado Train:
The song is about carnal desire between two people, and the thoughts and motions that lead you into that mindset. Simply put, the song is about sex.
5. Space Doge:
“Space Doge” is about a dog astronaut that leaves his version of earth to prove that he’s still valuable to society, but in doing so he ends up on a different world with no way to get back. It’s a light commentary about how rapidly new trends or ideas can catch fire and dominate your life, only to burn out just as quickly and leave you feeling empty or lost.
