Top 10 Music Videos Involving Rain/Water

Water, water, everywhere! Welcome to Kill The Music. Today, we’re counting down our picks for the top 10 music videos involving rain and/or water. This list is for the bands who have made a music video that features water in the majority of the shots or has the band playing in the rain. Did we miss any? Comment your favorites below!

10. Pittsburgh - The Amity Affliction

The song’s title ‘Pittsburgh’ is a reference to lead singer Joel Birch’s near death experience during Vans Warped Tour, near Pittsburgh. Due to extreme dehydration and too much alcohol, Joel collapsed and suffered a seizure, even stating in an interview that he “went blue and [his] heart stopped”. (Source)

9. Perfect - Simple Plan

A song about living up to the expectations of your father. Many fathers push their sons too hard and never tell their sons that they are proud because they believe that it will make their sons soft to do so. However, in this song, the singer laments his lack of paternal approval. (Source)

8. In Division - Underoath

The opening track to Underoath’s underrated record, Disambiguation features the band getting assaulted by a deluge of water.

7. Karma - Parkway Drive

The song speaks of the power and strength to stand against everything and fight. The narrator (vocalist Winston McCall) says that no matter what pulls him down and what causes him to fall – he gets up. (Source)

6. Confined - As I Lay Dying

"'Confined' is about my own lack of perspective at times. It's easy to focus so intensely on things in life that are vain and temporary. Sometimes I fall into this trap and forget how meaningless it all is." - Tim Lambesis

5. Lydia - Highly Suspect

With a very cool riff, haunting vocals, and menacing bass and drums, “Lydia” tells the tale of a man facing the hardships of love and drug abuse; the combination of both has left him tied up and sunk, which is displayed in the song’s music video. (Source)

4. My Own Summer - Deftones

Chino Moreno has said that the song refers to his displeasure with the sun after long nights of recording and it burning his eyes, resulting in him putting tin foil over the windows to block it out. (Source)

3. This Is The Time (Ballast) - Nothing More

The song is centered around how surprised the singer is that the world has become so hateful and how we all just need to let go of our anger and chill out. (Source)

2. Belispeak - Purity Ring

It’s about a parent and child, not necessarily a grandmother, but it’s about the frustrations of parents accepting a loss of innocence in their kid and that it’s more of a forceful relationship. (Source)

1. Tears Don’t Fall - Bullet For My Valentine

The lyrics tell the tale of a man having an affair on his partner and the feelings of guilt he has, and how he isn't sure whether his partner would still love him if she knew the truth. The song later reveals that the man dies in the same room where he once slept with his love. (Source)
