This Day In Music History: August 6th

On this day, August 6th, in 1960 musician Chubby Checker performs “The Twist” on the American television show “American Bandstand”. Although the song “The Twist” was originally by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters, Chubby Checker’s performance is more commonly known to this day. Chubby Checker’s 1960 cover has been cited as the song that started the twist dance craze. Listen to the track below!
