Starset have debuted a music video for their cover of Johnny Hates Jazz’s “Shattered Dreams.” That track will appear on the group's new album, “SILOS,” which is set to be released on September 12. Frontman Dustin Bates said the following:
“For a long time, I’ve had it in my head that I could cover ‘Shattered Dreams‘ in a cool way that sounds fresh, heavy, and emotive, while still keeping what made it great. For that reason, it was on a very short list of covers I’d like to eventually do. I haven’t traditionally been very big on covers for this band, though, so I wasn’t in a real hurry to do it.
However, recently, I’ve started to become convinced that soon, anyone will be able to cover any song in any style with the use of AI. (It will take a while longer for it to write a great song on its own, but it will likely be able to cover songs well very soon.) So, it started to feel like now-or-never. That also explains why there are two covers on the album.”
