Show Review: Convictions in Rochester, NY

Convictions are a five-piece metalcore band from Ohio with strong Christian beliefs and values. But the band doesn't consider themselves to be as much, they have themselves labelled as "emotion captured in noise" and this couldn't be a more accurate fit for these guys. I was lucky enough to catch Convictions as a part of the Like Moths To Flames headlining tour in Rochester.  The band was the first of the national bands to play, but they put on one of the most notable sets of the night. Being very generous with his water, vocalist Michael Felker sprayed down the audience at various times. But that was only the beginning to the fire stage presence the crowd would watch that night. Guitarist and bassist perspectively, Joshua Canode and John Fleischmann left every ounce of their soul on that stage, thrashing their bodies and their gear around with nothing less than pure emotion. The band did well always keeping every iota of the audiences' attention, and really making this set a both entertaining and deeply emotional. While it did not appear that many audience members knew Convictions well, it did not keep them from moving and starting a pit for the band. All in all, I was thrilled by this performance and I can not wait to see what these amazing guys have in store for them. You can check them out on a benefit compilation called "The Great Big Suziepalooza" or keep an eye peeled for their newest album "I Will Become" being released by April 29th by InVogue Records.
