Ricky Hill spoke to Kill The Music about the release, saying:
"15 years ago when Lex and I first started working together, I was already a big fan of him and his sound. I was surprised he wanted to work with me. I took the opportunity to rap about the another part of my life; not just my pain, but things I like. My home state CT, what we do out there, how we live etc. After all those years, Lex and I have a chemistry and we have over 100 songs we never even put out…this is a long time coming. It’s titled 10,000 grams not '1000 Grams' because we remade it maybe 10 times and this shit is harder than the first one."
