Tyler Carter releases his 6 track solo EP titled "Leave Your Love" tomorrow. The Issues frontman and clean vocalist takes a more R&B spin on this one, which really comes to no surprise due to his vocal style. The track listing for Leave Your Love are as follows:
- Sophisticated
- Leave Your Love
- Georgia
- So Slow
- Tears on The Runway pt I (Feat. Nylo)
- Find Me
I personally am not a huge Tyler Carter fan past anything to do with Woe, Is Me. However, as I sat down to listen to LYL for the first time, I made sure to keep an open mind and give him a clean slate with an unbiased opinion. It was not long, however, until I found myself feeling tortured once again by Mr Carter's antics.
Have you ever been somewhere with someone and they start to do something where their actions embarrasses you to no end, but they will not stop? That's sort of how this played out. Listening to Tyler Carter attempt to open the songs with some spoken "smooth talk" was just flat out embarrassing to even suffer through. I was playing GTA V while listening to the EP and was legitimately worried that if I didn't turn it off soon, my character was going to turn the gun on himself and knock him out of his misery.
From his Usher wannabe vibe, to his terrible attempt to do vocal runs, to his more than lacking back tracks, Tyler Carter leaves us with what I can only compare to the Wal-Mart generic brand of Justin Timberlake. (I'm sorry JT for even putting you two in the same sentence.)
I wish there was one or two things about Leave Your Love I could point out that were really the main factors of it being so treacherous, but there is not one aspect of it that turns me away. Its all of it. I never thought I would find something that I would rather listen to Issues than, until my ears heard this.
So in conclusion, I gave Tyler Carter the chance to get himself back in the game in my field of music, and he struck out swinging and was boo'd out of the ballpark.
If you were planning on picking up Leave Your Love, I would suggest you leave your money in your bank account.
1/5 Stars in my opinion.
