Review: John Krautner - Fun with Gum Vol 1

John Krautner is a founding member of two garage-rock bands, “The Go” and “Conspiracy of Owls”. He recently released his solo album recorded by the one and only Bobby Harlow of Burger Records. John Krautner is from Detroit, Michigan and really adds his rock and roll style to this sun kissed album.

This album is a great spring release and perfect to listen to with the windows down as you head to the beach! This album has a “Beach Boys” vibe with a little more punch. I love the classic surf rock style they are going for in this album.

“I Know What Right” is my favorite track on this album. The slurred guitar that dribbles throughout the song, as well as the groovy bass line. This track has a late 70s style and I am glad this kind of music is still around.

There are many other bands with a similar style worth checking out. This is a solid first album to listen to for those who are new to this genre of music. Check out all the physical copies of “Fun with Gum Vol. 1” on the Burger website. I rate this album a 7 out of 10.
