Easycore is still alive! Four Year Strong is back (not that they ever left) and they're bringing us their self-titled album. Let's dive into their new release and see what's new that they're bringing to the game.
The first track "I Hold Myself In Contempt" definitely shows that Four Year Strong is headed in a different direction from their last album. The song shows more of a pop-punk influence with the instruments and even the vocals. They are still showing some elements of easycore, but have changed drastically. The rest of the songs on this album follow a similar pattern.
All of the tracks have a little bit of a more tired post punk mood then their usual upbeat tempos. The song "Wipe Yourself Off Man You Dead" shows that more than any song. It shows that they still have the same energy, but there is a definite change in their style. My favorite on the album has to be "Here's To Swimming With Bow Legged Women". The song shows how much Four Year Strong has matured as a band while showing their signature punk-ish yelling and easycore guitar skills.
The album as a whole is just another album to add to Four Year Strong's amazing discography. I'm going to give this album a 8 out of 10 stars. It shows off their maturity, but seems to be a little less of what is expected out the band we love so much. I am however going to praise them for their hard work and dedication in creating some of the songs that are sure to be on the summer playlist of many.
