Review: Enter Shikari - The Mindsweep
The UK based rock band Enter Shikari are finally back at it. They have set the release for their newest album, entitled The Mindsweep, for January 19th. The one-of-a-kind four piece brings it in full force once again with this new album. Track listing is as follows:
1. The Appeal & The Mindsweep I
2. The One True Colour
3. Anaesthetist
4. The Last Garrison
5. Never Let Go Of The Microscope
6. Myopia
7. Torn Apart
8. interlude
9. The Bank Of England
10. There’s A Price On Your Head
11. Dear Future Historians…
12. The Appeal & The Mindsweep II
I have a massive amount of respect for any group that can develop a sound as unique as they have. The Mindsweep did not disappoint me one single bit. Each track brings it's own taste and flavor, one after another of just mind blowing creativity. The production quality alone is worth noting. There is a very impressive blend of the actual instruments with the electronic music that Enter Shikari also incorporates.
Frontman and vocalist Roughton "Rou" Reynolds brings that very recognizable english accent, along with an equally recognizable english rough-and-tough attitude. Ranging from softer singing, to rap-style vocals, to screaming, Reynolds takes us on a journey of emotions and vocal styles to accompany.
The rest of the band is not to be looked over, however. Reynolds' band mates come full force with just as much expression as their vocalist. Driving drums, ambient guitar riffs, catchy tones, and so much more comes straight to your ears bringing any musician or avid music lover a sure eargasm.
Hopeless Records has to be proud to have this release under their belts. Even though the album was 12 tracks long, I still did not want it to end. I was very impressed with my first encounter (sad to admit that) with the boys from across the pond.
The Mindsweep is set to release on January 19th, 2015 and can be pre-ordered via the band's website or a digital copy can be bought via iTunes.
I'm giving the lads across the great big ocean 8/10 for this one
Someone gift this album to anyone you know who had wasted their money on the new Tyler Carter EP ;)
