Emerald Isle is a post-hardcore band from Tempe, Arizona. Lesson Learned is the first release they’ve put out and honestly you would never guess that. It sounds like they have been doing albums for years! Emerald Isle is still unsigned but rapidly growing in popularity and I think that they are going to have no trouble getting signed by a superb label. The vocalists Lev Lewis and Conner Williams harmonize well together and their sound really soars when accompanied by the screaming of Taylor Ellis. I love bands that use multiple vocalists opposed to having just one singer.
This release is very relatable to Escape the Fate’s first release, “Dying is our Latest Fashion”, which is what the hardcore scene has been missing since 2006. The mix between screaming and clean vocals fit together seamlessly. When I listen to Emerald Isle, I envision myself being in the front row at Warped Tour on a nice sunny day.
The most noteworthy track on this EP would have to be “Burden”. The guitar riffs on this track really come in with a bang. This song makes me want to jump around and scream out the chorus. This song exemplifies the warm weather feel of this EP, so its spring release is fitting.
I am excited to see where they go with their first full length album. Currently, Emerald Isle is trying to win the “Battle of the Bands” presented by Warped Tour. They currently have a 78% Buzz Rating, so if you want to see them at this years Warped Tour be sure to share and listen to Emerald Isle on the Warped Tour Battle of The Bands website.
I rate this album a 8 out of 10, I can't wait till they release a full length album! Be sure to keep posted for that this year!
