Make Do And Mend have signed with New Morality Zine. The label will handle the release of the band’s upcoming album “On Going.”
Vocalist/guitarist James Carroll commented:
“As a band, we’ve gotten to realize many kinds of mind-blowing full-circle moments, whether it be meeting and touring with heroes, or playing legendary venues around the world, but to me, the coolest full-circle moment has been realized while planning to release ‘On Going’ with New Morality Zine. Nick, who runs NMZ, was an early champion of MDAM. In fact, he was the one who introduced us to Timm McIntosh, who released our E.P. ‘Bodies of Water’ on his label Panic Records, which was really our springboard towards much of our later success as a band. I think it’s safe to say that the Make Do and Mend that folks have gotten to know over the years wouldn’t exist without Nick. So in that way, I think there was no better choice when it came time to team up with a label for ‘On Going.’
I think that I speak for all of us when I say I have so many strong emotions about this upcoming tour. Excited, Nervous, Grateful. To be able to re-explore playing live with my best friends while supporting a group of musicians who were early champions for our band is a really nuanced and special experience. IATA served as major role models for how our band would not only sound but also behave as forthright stewards of the genre and the culture. They are truly the best of the best. We are so excited to get to play in front of new folks as well as old friends, and we will be absolutely giving it our all.”
New Morality Zine owner Nick Acosta added:
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with Make Do and Mend on this next chapter of the band and the release of ‘On Going.’
Make Do and Mend was essentially the first band I ever did A&R for. Around 2008, I discovered their music through the Hostage Calm MySpace page and immediately told my best friend, whose label I was helping out with at the time. A few short months later, the band and the label were working together to release ‘Bodies of Water,’ and I found myself taking the train from New York City to Boston to meet the band before heading to Connecticut for their record release show.
Since then, our friendship has continued to grow and evolve alongside the band itself. Make Do and Mend has been one of my favorite bands from that very first day, and their music has remained a constant companion through every part of life. Whether I was celebrating something meaningful, grieving a loss, or simply reflecting on where I’ve been, their songs always seemed to meet me exactly where I was.
What has made that connection endure isn’t just the music, it’s the people. I’ve never met a more genuine group of people, and it’s an honor to play even a small role in helping bring this release into the world.”
