Guest Blog: Mike Fishkin (Gone Fishkin)

Hey I'm Fish, host of Gone Fishkin on idobi Radio. Having my own show on idobi has been a dream come true—I started Gone Fishkin in November of 2013, but I’ve been a fan of the station since middle school. Back then some of my favorite bands were on late night TV all the time but my mom would never let me stay up late to watch, so I'd search for the performances, and idobi hosted the videos for them. This was way before people were uploading anything to YouTube. It's been about ten years since then, and getting to be a part of the company that helped me discover new music is one of the coolest things to me. Every time we post something new I hope there's a kid out there that gets the same feeling I had when I first discovered idobi.

Before idobi I interned for Live Nation and Bamboozle, as well as working for local bands selling merch or helping carry their gear. Working with artists definitely taught me a lot about the industry and helped me on the radio end because now I know a lot about the technical side, whether it be gear, songwriting, or touring. There's no better way to get a full understanding of something than by experiencing it first hand, and for that I am truly grateful for the incredible staff we have at idobi and all the bands, publicists, managers, and labels we work with on a daily basis.
