Guest Blog: Behind The Scenes of Chained Saint's "Animosity"

Few bands can say that have worked with Alice In Chains and received praise from Mastodon before the age of 18 - Chained Saint is one of the lucky few. Today, we're taking a behind the scenes look at their debut music video for "Animosity"!

"The video for “Animosity” was a memorable experience for us because it was the first time we ever shot a music video and we didn’t know what to expect. It’s certainly different than playing live. Basically, everyone except Cameron (who had to bang on the drums) wasn’t plugged in although Sean did belt out the chorus at times. He couldn’t hold back.

First of all, we’re all very happy with the way the video came out and the goal for our debut video was to create a straightforward strong performance video. This is who we are, this is what we look like, this is Chained Saint. I think the key component was that we were prepared. Our director was Travis Detweiler, who was beyond awesome. He is also the director for the upcoming video for “Stronger Than Stone (Blindside).”

We must have run through “Animosity” at least 30 times. I think we lost count after 10 runs. The process was an education as well, there was a dolly, locked cameras, a handheld, and a haze machine (which broke and they had to scramble to get another one.) We shot the video in about 12 hours from the time we arrived and the time we wrapped. We shot a bunch of  B-boll that actually didn’t make it into the video. We might repurpose that in the future.

Other than that, the Costco Chicken Bake and Gatorade kept us going
