Game of Thrones season 6 premiered last night with a title, "The Red Woman". With over 60 character deaths, the show keeps viewers on its toes. If you haven't watched yet, be warned- SPOILERS.
Spoiler! SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER!
There. Now if you read ahead, it's your fault.
So many questions were left at the end of Season 5? What happens to Sansa and Theon? What's going to happen to Arya? Where did Daenerys end up? Will Cersei be a better person because of what she experienced? Okay, had to chuckle to myself on that last one because, let's face it, there is not one good bone in that woman's body. Or is there?
Cersei anxiously awaited the arrival of her daughter, Myrcella, only to learn when Jaime returned, Myrcella had been murdered. The parents mourned their daughter together, while Cersei recounted Myrcella's sweet nature. Her tone seemed to indicate she has some sort of remorse within her. But will it stay? That remains to be seen.
Awaiting a much similar destiny was Myrcella's betrothed Dorne prince- Trystane. The Sand Snakes, under Ellaria Sand's command, murdered Trystane and his father. Ellaria stabbed King Dorane mercilessly while Obara skewered Trystane's face. And that's putting it nicely.
To recap the rest quickly, Sansa and Theon run from Ramsay. They are tracked down by Ramsay's hounds, but are saved by Brienne and Podrick. Arya is currently blind, but got her ass kicked by a girl with the promise of "See you tomorrow". Tyrion needs to brush up on his Valyrian, for fear he might tell someone he wants to eat their baby again. (Best joke of the night). And Daenerys meets Khal Moro, who after learning she was the widow of Khal Drogo, informed her of her fate as a Khal's widow- to live out her life in the Widow's Temple. Yikes.
Perhaps the biggest question of all- is Jon Snow still alive? That question remains to be answered- sort of. Jon Snow is presumably dead, as shown by the grief of his Dire Wolf. Stupid Olly. Jon's grieving allies, Davos included, hole up to hide themselves from the rest of the Night Watch. Alliser (-cough- bastard -cough-), comes to the room to talk them into surrendering, claiming his actions were "for the Watch". Davos smelled Alliser's raging bullshit and delivered an excellent mutton gest while buying some time for him and the Lord Commander's loyal men. After much discussion, Davos claims Melisandre will be a secret weapon. Does that mean she'll resurrect Snow? I mean, she's a badass, but- wait what?
MELISANDRE IS A 200 YEAR OLD WOMAN?!
HOLY MOLY OBI WAN KENOBI.
One things for sure- the women of Game of Thrones are going to be full of surprises this season!
Game of Thrones, Season 6, Episode 2 "Homeward Bound" will air on Sunday, May 1st on HBO.
