First Impressions: Glassjaw - Material Control

As previously reported, Glassjaw just released their first new album in 15 years. I decided to jot down my first impressions after a few listens.

  • I'm hearing lots of Deftones influence throughout the album. The vocal style of Chino Moreno on Around the Fur and White Pony among other things.
  • If you took all the screams off Worship & Tribute, you would have Material Control. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing by any means either.
  • Billy Rymer from The Dillinger Escape Plan played the drums on the record and killed it. He's a great drummer in his own right too.

What are your thoughts on Material Control? Let us know in the comments below!
