Last year, Mo'ne Davis wowed the sports world by being the first girl to win a game and pitch a shutout in the Little League World Series. The Philadelphia native was also the first African-American girl to play. Davis appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated, making her the first ever Little League player to grace it.
Disney announced yesterday they plan on making a TV movie about Davis, Throw Like Mo. The project is currently in development. While no cast nor release date have been named, Mo'ne will serve as a consultant on the film. “There are so many great things happening to me right now and it’s a very exciting time in my life,” said Davis. “A year ago, I never would have thought that Disney Channel would make a movie about me. I can’t wait to get started and I hope it will encourage other viewers to believe that dreams really do come true.”
