Vocalist Rory Rodriguez said the following:
“This was such an honor to collaborate with The Midnight and transform these songs in a way people have never heard before. The MCR cover of ‘Ghost of You’ is so nostalgic for all of us in the band as well and we really tried to recreate that song in our own band’s sound and image.”

“I used to jam a mellow version of ‘Shapeshift’ on my piano and sending it to The Midnight and getting to hear them transform it into an ’80s synthwave version just completely blew us away. It’s a complete reinvention of the song and we feel like people will love it.”
The Midnight’s Tim McEwan added:
“We’ve always felt a deep connection to the metal community. For years, I’ve been wanting to create a genre called ‘metalwave,’ and this is the first step in that direction. Dayseeker + The Midnight just felt like the perfect fit.”
