The Hives will be the musical guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Friday October 5, performing the worldwide television premiere of “Take Back The Toys,” a song from their lauded new album Lex Hives. The appearance comes as the band gears up for the second leg of their West Coast tour, kicking off October 6 in Pioneertown, CA and marking the last time the band will perform in the U.S. this year. In addition, Last Call with Carson Daly will air two songs from their recent set at The Wiltern on Monday, October 8.
The upcoming dates are the latest on The Hives’ world tour which included powerful sets at Coachella earlier this year, as well as Reading & Leeds and Jay-Z’s Made In America Festival just last month. The band will continue on to Europe for a headlining run before heading to Australia to finish out the rest of the year. See below for all touring details.
The Hives’ live shows are widely praised, with SPIN proclaiming “this Swedish quintet remains one of the most riveting live rock bands of the last dozen years,” anointing Howlin” Pelle Almqvist as “one of the greatest frontmen in rock.” Their new album Lex Hives has seen similar worldwide accolades. NME declares “let it be said that Lex Hives is amazing,” and Q Magazine's 4-star review asserts “Lex Hives fizzes with the energy of a debut album, the quintet emphatically back to what they do best.” Likewise, The Independent states, “if Lex Hives has one fault, it’s that it makes you want to switch it off, go straight out and see the Hives live,” and Entertainment Weekly proclaims “the Hives have returned to remind us the Swedes do it better.”
The Hives are Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist, Nicholaus Arson, Chris Dangerous, Dr. Matt Destruction, and Vigilante Carlstroem.
