I've been listening to podcasts for the better part of two years (late to the game, I know). It all started when I heard that Maynard James Keenan was gonna be on WTF with Marc Maron. From there, I branched out into The Nerdist, The Joe Rogan Experience, Pointless: With Kevin Pereira before eventually launching my own podcast. Enough about me, I wanna highlight some newer and better podcasts I've been getting into lately.
Keith Buckley from Every Time I Die appears on the latest episode of The Jasta Show. Listen to the episode below
Fomer host of MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball/vocalist Jamey Jasta’s official podcast, The Jasta Show. The weekly podcast will feature Jasta interviewing musicians, athletes and influential figures.
We interviewed Hatebreed guitarist, Frank Novinec at this show. That can be heard here
Battlecross, a heavy metal band from Michigan, were the first band to open the show. Adam Pierce from All Shall Perish was filling in as their live drummer and KILLED it. I asked the vocalist about Kevin Talley (who’s listed as their live drummer on their FB page, but couldn’t get a definite answer) Plenty of guitar solos and windmilling during their set; be sure to catch them with Revocation and Death Angel after the Hatebreed tour!
The always angry Acacia Strain stomped their way on stage, declaring their hatred of all things nice/mankind. Of course, the pit opened up when they started playing. Vincent, the vocalist, was a lot more interactive with the crowd than normal. There wasn’t a barricade but there also wasn’t any stage diving allowed. Opening with Doomblade from their latest record, “Death is The Only Mortal”, Vincent ordered the lights be turned off to give a more omnious appearance. They closed with the fan favorite, JFC while Vincent held the mic above the crowd to scream out “I am the end of the world!”
Shadows Fall kicked ass but I wasn’t too familiar with their newer material. The highlight of the set was Brian Fair windmilling with his long dreads.
After waiting forever, the stage lights dimmed and Hatebreed finally took the stage, opening with Tear It Down and led right into Honor Never Dies (the only new song they played) The pit was crazy; the sound was amazing, and the band was phenomenal. The tour ends in Canada on Sunday so don’t miss out!
