Justin Vernon recently told TripleJ that he doesn’t “really write songs anymore.” Vernon’s other project, Volcano Choir, released its new album, Repave, today.

"I don’t really write songs anymore," he said. "The last Bon Iver record was a very ‘sitting down with a guitar and writing’ kind of record. I really have to be in a specific headspace to even begin to illuminate an idea that would create another Bon Iver record, and I’m just not there. I’m really honoured that Bon Iver gives me a platform to do whatever I want, but there’s only so much time you can spend digging through yourself before you become insular. I’m not in a hurry to go back to that temperature. All of the music I’ve been making shifting away from Bon Iver feels really good … so if I ever do go back to Bon Iver it will be all the better for it."

Architects will be reissuing their latest album “Daybreaker” on June 11th. It will feature their new song “Black Blood”, Bon Iver cover “Blood Bank” and a Thrice cover “Of Dust & Nations”. Check out an update from the band below!

Black Blood will be premiered on Daniel P Carter’s Radio One Rock Show which starts at midnight on Monday (well, technically Tuesday).

Black Blood will feature on a reissue of Daybreaker that will be released in America on June 11th, ahead of our long summer on the Vans Warped Tour. The reissue will also feature covers of Bon Iver’s ‘Blood Bank’ and Thrice’s ‘Of Dust And Nations’.

We’re sorry that these won’t be released anywhere else. Its completely out of our control. We’ve repeatedly asked Century Media that it be released, even just digitally, in the rest of the world but they flat out refuse.

Seeing as most of the world (and most of our fans) are unable to buy it, you may as well find free downloads and get hold of it that way. If you American folk buy the songs and want to share them with non American folk, we won’t stop you.

Much Love,

Architects
