Pennsylvania post-hardcore 6-piece I AM KING has signed with Velocity/Rise Records. Formed out of the Lehigh Valley in early 2010, I AM KING humbly offers a message of truth and hope with their music, while reminding their listeners the harsh reality of choosing to face both the truth and yourself. The band’s self-titled and self-released EP dropped last month and was recorded with Taylor Larson (Periphery, Sky Eats Airplane, I the Breather). The band will enter the studio later this year to record their label debut with an anticipated release in spring 2013.

“The first time I heard I Am King, I instantly knew there was something special about them.  I’ll never forget that first show i saw them at (Starland Ballroom).  I knew it wasn’t just studio magic, but that it was real.  What they had was authentic and genuine.  I see nothing but amazing things in their future,” says Velocity Records founder Dave Shapiro.

Co-vocalist Sam Sky says, “From the beginning we had our eye on Velocity and now we have Dave Shapiro behind us along with Rise. It’s a dream come true for us. We’re really blessed and stoked to have this opportunity and to have such an awesome team behind us. Thank you to everyone who has supported us up until this point. We promise not to let you down”

Housecore Records thrashers WARBEAST are set to head out on tour with DOWN next week! The band will join the U.S. tour on September 18th in their hometown of Fort Worth, TX and will travel with DOWN and label mates haarp with a few shows with special guests Pentagram and Saint Vitus and others until October 2nd in Charlotte, NC.

The band is also pleased to announce upcoming European tour dates with DOWN. They will then continue the tour in November with several stops in Germany. DOWN vocalist Philip Anselmo had some words to add about bringing WARBEAST on the road.

I am extremely pleased we (Down) are bringing the band WARBEAST with us to Europe. They are what I’d call “pure” Thrash Metal, in a classic Dallas/Ft. Worth style,” states Anselmo. “These guys are tailor made for our brothers and sisters across the pond, and I expect them to fucking kick some almighty ass, and gain a shitload of new fans.”

“This has been a goal for each one of us from our earliest bands and from the inception WARBEAST,” states WARBEAST vocalist Bruce Corbitt. “Here in the USA, many of us are envious of the European metal scene. So going on a European Tour with our bro’s in DOWN is even better than a dream-come-true for us. It honestly feels unreal and surreal that this is actually going to happen. Special thanks to our label Houscecore Records for believing in us in the first place!”

SUICIDE SILENCE are proud to announce that they have inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment, the new division of Nuclear Blast formed by Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger and former Roadrunner A&R chief, Monte Conner. As one of the leaders of the extreme modern metal movement, it is only fitting that their new home be one of the biggest metal labels on the planet. It’s a union that is sure to bring much success to both parties in the not so distant future.

“I’ve been following SUICIDE SILENCE since their debut album and immediately grew to love their music,“ commented Nuclear Blast CEO, Markus Staiger. “I knew we had to work with this amazing band and today is the day to finally welcome one of the most brutal bands on Earth to the Nuclear Blast family. The next SUICIDE SILENCE album will no doubt push boundaries once again.“

“I am thrilled to have such an innovative and unique band like SUICIDE SILENCE as the first signing to Nuclear Blast Entertainment,” added NBE President Monte Conner. “Even though I was totally blown away by their last album, The Black Crown, I am certain the band’s best music is still ahead of them.”

Guitarist Mark Heylmun commented:

“I and all of SUICIDE SILENCE are proud to announce that we have signed a worldwide deal with the one and only Nuclear Blast. It wasn’t a tough decision, Nuclear Blast has been a huge part of heavy metal for decades and we couldn’t be happier. This is a new beginning for us and we’re ready as all hell! Let Chapter 2 begin now!”

"I am beyond stoked to be signing to the sickest of all heavy metal record labels,”  continues bassist Dan Kenny. “It has been a dream of mine since I was a youngster with Nuclear Blast posters on my bedroom wall”

North American Label Manager Gerardo Martinez concluded:

“It’s pretty amazing when you hear SUICIDE SILENCE talk about the Nuclear Blast bands they love. It puts all of us on the same level - we are all music fans here. Super stoked to be a part of history with this Californian bunch!”

SUICIDE SILENCE’s Nuclear Blast Entertainment debut is tentatively scheduled for a Summer 2013 release.

SUICIDE SILENCE's latest album, The Black Crown, sold upwards of 14,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 28 on The Billboard 200 chart.

This week’s “Classic Bands and Why We Love Them” contributor is Bradley Dillion from Introduce: Yourself Band Promotion Page.

Deftones. Why are they my favorite band, and one of the best bands of the 90’s, in my opinion? A multitude of reasons, but mainly because I saw them for the first (and only) time back in 2003, with Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Metallica, and Mudvayne. It was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to, and while I was only familiar with most of “White Pony” at the time, something about them stuck with me. I think it may have been their stage presence. The fact that they were (and still are) a very heavy band, but still influenced by genres other than metal, was what really stood out to me.

I listen to a much broader spectrum of music now than I did back then. But Deftones will always be my favorite band just because of how tight Stephen Carpenter, Chino Moreno„ and friends are with their instruments. Add the to the fact that they’re a lot more experimental than any band I’ve heard in two decades, and you have a recipe for perfection. A big part of my love for them is Chino Moreno’s voice, though. It’s just one of those things you have to hear to believe. Also, Deftones have never made a bad album, or even average one. They’ve all been great, from Adrenaline to Diamond Eyes. And personally, I can’t wait to see what they do with their new album that drops in October. I know it won’t disappoint.

Deftones got me through a very dark couple of years in life. Between them, Linkin Park, and Funeral For a Friend, they all provided an outlet for me to escape reality. And really, isn’t that was music should do? Shouldn’t it make you open up your mind and lose yourself in it?

This, my friends, is why Deftones are my favorite band.
