Unsigned Spotlight: TableForFour
TableForFour is a self-proclaimed indigo band composed of two vocalists, Jayne and Roger, and two producers, B.u.. and Plaga. After years of other outlets, they have finally all brought their own specific skill set and ideas to the table and together have created the complete sound and image that is TableForFour.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to TableForFour? How long has the band been around?
Roger - I was apart of a group duo. It really helped me grow as an artist and figure out what I wanted from music. It had its pros and cons. But I developed some awesome relationships that I will never take for granted.
Jayne: I've been singing my whole life in choirs, school, etc, but I've never truly been in a band. In 2014, I was featured on a friend's song and it kind of went from there. I started to collaborate with other local artists in the area and in December 2015 another local artist that I had met during a studio session gave my name to Roger who was looking for a vocalist for a band he was trying to put together. The rest is history!
B.U : I am still currently in a hiphop/rap collective called BlackWorld Music. It's my bread and butter. Been working on getting things kick started for atleast 7 years now.
Plaga: I was apart of a kids singing group in the late Mid 90s at was almost signed to a major label. This band is currently no longer around and hasn't been since the 90s. But it's what propelled me into wanting to do production.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
T44: The name was picked before the band was even put together. B.U. kinda spit out a name as we were talking about the idea of the band. We had that "Did he just say something completely crazy or completely brilliant??" We went with the latter. We picked the name and then figured the band members. I think we made some pretty good choices across the board.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
T44: We all write our music. We usually all write stuff and take the pieces that we feel tell the story best. Every song is an empty table and we all bring our own piece of inspiration to the table. I don't think the true message of our music will ever really change. The message might grow but we want our music to be conscious and to actually have content. Our message is about love and awareness; not just self-awareness but awareness of the souls around us. We want to send the world a positive message.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
T44: We all listen to different music. But when it comes to the direction of the band, we're on the same page. It's kind of amazing because when each of us are our own solo acts, we're all so incredibly different. But when we come together to make music, all four sounds almost merge into one. We like soft but dark sound, deep but abstract lyrics, obvious yet hidden messages..
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
T44: Not really. I mean, we LOVE the awe-inspiring lights of a Purity Ring show. The mastery of their show is one we inspire to create.
R: I went to a Kid Cudi show that changed my life. When I first hear his music I wasn't super thrilled. After seeing the show I was pulled in and I have never pulled away. His show changed the way I viewed him as a artist.
J: I can't say there's been a particular artist that made me want to start or be in a band...it's not even about being in a band to me really. It's about being given the opportunity to share raw energy with the world around you through your own body and soul. The way I felt when I listened to Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor or Sam Cooke was I was younger...that's what makes me want to sing. I want to make people feel.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
T44 : We pretty much just kick it and joke around. You might hear Jayne doing some vocal exercises, BU and Plaga practicing keys and Roger skateboarding haha but nothing major. The quality of our performance is based off of our chemistry as a band, so keeping that in tact is extremely important to us.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
T44: Being a brand new band we don't have too many highlights yet. We are all very pleased with the success of our first song "Match".
J: To me, the best highlight so far is just meeting these gentlemen. If I didn't go to the studio session where I met the musician who introduced me to Roger, I wouldn't be here, nor would I have the brothers that I have today.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
T44: Modest Mouse, Kid Cudi, Sleigh Bells, Tame Impala , Purity Ring are the ones that come to mind first. Just because even though they rehearse, it just seems so natural when they're performing and it feels like they're just up on stage jamming out. That's something that we aspire to achieve. We think we could learn a lot from those bands.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
T44: DREAM STRONG!!!
