Larenz - Guitar

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Sink With Me? How long has the band been around?

Jake, larenz, & Evan we’re in various projects in our local scene with their most notable project together before Sink With Me, DSMSD. Stephen was in various bands around his hometown of NC, most notably lions of winter. Apollo as well has been in various local bands from the ME, NH, MA scene. Sink With Me formed at the end of 2020.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Sink With Me is like the idea behind our general message. We are sad and invite you to be sad with us & be confident in the fact you don’t have to struggle alone.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

Apollo, Stephen do a lot of the demoing. They send demos to the rest of us and with our input work towards the finished track. We then take that track and record it with our producer, where we add the final touches. Evan almost exclusively writes the lyrics, while taking influence/help from the rest of the band.

A lot of what Evan writes about his own personal life. Situations, people, and struggles he’s dealt with. We most likely will continue to be as genuine to ourselves and those that listen to our music with our lyrics. We don’t plan to write anything about broken generations haha

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

We all have a lot of influences that really mesh well. I wouldn’t say we try to emulate any specific band, but a few notable influences are as follows. Of Machines, Caskets, Thousand Below; and anything of the risecore times haha

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Evan: I didn’t want to be in a band or really get into it until I when to my first concert. The way the crowd reacted, the way I felt like I was in a room of people who all potentially connected and felt the same way I did through this music. From that day forward I knew I wanted to create music.

Jake: I mean, you could look back at all the late 2000/early 2010 emo bands and draw a connection. Bands that helped people who were struggling mentally. But to me I remember Taste of Chaos 2008. Watching Atreyu when I was 16 and thinking “damn, I wanna do that”

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …

Evan: I will do vocal warm-ups, light stretching, and hydrate.

Jake: For the most part, I’ll hydrate during the day and play through the set solo once or twice day off

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

For us it would be the friends we’ve made. The band has become friends with some people that We look up to in the music world, that We would even consider celebrities. It’s been very fulfilling for the bands that We listen to, listen to us.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Evan: I would love to have toured with Of Machines, Ten After Two, and A Bullet for Pretty Boy. They are major influences of mine, and their lyrical content is some of my favorite of all time.

Jake: I think touring with MCR would’ve been the peak of most band’s careers, and would be the dream of dreams come true for me

Is there anything else you would like to add?
