Unsigned Spotlight: No Eye Has Seen
Connecticut newcomers No Eye Has Seen take influence from the likes of Oceans Ate Alaska and Fit For A King, with a ferocious brand of modern metalcore. No Eye Has Seen continue to hone a blend of ferocious riffs and ambient breakdowns - a progressive and heart-on-sleeve combination of thundering vocals and pinpoint melodic injections.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to No Eye Has Seen? How long has the band been around?
No Eye Has Seen has been a band for 3 years. This is everyone’s first project except for Lukas. He is also playing with a metalcore band called As Within So Without.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
The origin of the band’s name was found in a bible verse. At the time of the bands foundation, everyone was a Christian so it was fitting to have the name of the band religious based, since it was a common theme between us. However, we don’t label ourselves as a Christian band anymore, as a personal choice and as time went on our views changed as well. We have never had a name change.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
We all have a part in the creation of our songs. Danny and Sam write the songs fully with all instruments, and send them to the rest of the band for review. Once the songs are written, Lukas will go over the drums and tweak them to make them more coherent and intricate. Caleb writes the lyrical content and writes from a very personal standpoint based off of how he feels.
Most lyrical themes have to do with mental health, religion, viewpoints on where the world stands, and personal growth. The lyrical content will certainly change as time goes on. As humans, we are constantly changing, learning, and growing and he does his best to portray that walk in life through the lyrics he writes.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Invent Animate, Northlane and Currents are probably the top 3 bands we have taken inspiration from, while creating this new album we are working on.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Caleb: “There was never a particular moment or band that inspired me to start a band of my own. It’s just something that just happened and it felt so right doing once we got started.”
Danny: “My first concert I went to I saw Skillet at the Palladium. Even though we’re nowhere near that genre of rock, seeing them up on the stage, playing their hearts out and having such an impact on the crowd showed me that it was something I just had to do.”
Sam: "I listened to a wide variety of genres and bands growing up but I don’t think I was inspired to start a band by any one artist. Once I picked up the guitar I just knew that was what I wanted to do. The ability to express myself through music was my primary inspiration for wanting to be a part of a band."
Lukas: “A moment that inspired me to play music/be in a band is when I got guitar hero Metallica. That game made me take a step back and say “I have to play music” I was 8 years old when I made that decision and it was the best I’ve ever made.”
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
Most pre-show preparations we partake in are simple stretches and vocal warmups to ensure that we are prepared for every set. Caleb has a specific warm-up he does before every set, and it has impacted the way he performs in a drastic way.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
The biggest highlight of the bands career has to be a show that we played at the start of this year. We Co-headlined a show at The Palladium in Worcester Massachusetts. It’s one of those venues we’ve been to hundreds of times, seeing our favorite bands on long before we were even a band. It was just a big milestone for the band that we set when starting the band, and we worked very hard to achieve it. It was such an amazing feeling knowing our hard work paid off and we reached one of our goals.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Touring with Currents would be a very cool for us. They are a band from our home state Connectictut who have really made a name for themselves, so it would be an absolute honor to be able to tour with them. Aviana is another great band that we would love to do a tour with. We think that both of our bands have very similar sounds and would really complement each other’s sounds. Northlane would also be a dream come true for all of us to tour with. They are one of our biggest influences, so it would just be an amazing experience for us.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
First, thank you for taking the time to read through this to learn more about who we are and what we do as a band! Being in this band means everything to us. In the three years this band has been around, we have done things we never thought we would accomplish and we are just getting started.
We are in the process of creating our first full length album and we are confident that it’s something people will connect with. Whether you have just found out who we are, or have been there with us since the beginning, it truly means the world to us and we can’t thank you enough!
