New York City has a long, rich history with outstanding heavy music, and a new quintet has entered the metal fray by the name of Kings Bounty.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Kings Bounty?

“Q” was in the Arsonists and Stillwell

Mike Dijan was in Crown of Thornz, Breakdown & Lavalette

Steve Licata was in Finespun

How long has the band been around?

5 years

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Coming from Brooklyn NY aka Kings County, we just replaced county with Bounty, the meaning of the name varies between members. We’ve never changed the name, almost did once last year, but eventually stayed with it.

Who writes your songs?

“Q” & Mike Dijan write the bulk of the songs

What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

We cover personal experience topics, real life situations, topics that are relatable with people, life, love, pain, death and spiritual matters, not in a religious way but in a way that connects us all.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

We draw from so many bands from so many genres of music. It can go from Gojira to Outkast to Queens of the Stone Age to Depeche Mode to Soundgarden… The influences are vast.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

I believe its both that band/concert experience along with having our own band experiences that lead us to KB (Kings Bounty)

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

“Q” does vocal warm ups then listens to music in the dressing room that gets him amped up, Mike Dijan will do yoga poses, Steve will usually just chill then get anxious and “Harris” will quietly sit and do some sorta math puzzle.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Opening for Korn at the House of Blues in Anaheim California then going on the road with them & Ded for a week in the mid west. Opening for Nuclear Assault & Light the Torch in NYC, opening for POD and opening for Jonathan Davis.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Alice in Chains, Led Zeppelin, Stone Temple Pilots, Mastodon, Foo Fighters, the Deftones, System of a Down.. Just to name a few, why? These are just some of the bands we love and admire.
