Decedy is a pop rock band formed in 2009 that has played venues across the St. Louis area

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Deric Becker - guitars/vocals
Izzy Black - drums/vocals
Dylan Becker - bass/lead vocals.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Decedy? How long has the band been around?

Decedy formed in the Fall of 2009.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Decedy has had a lot of different meanings but as of right now, we’re not even sure what it means anymore.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

Deric writes the majority of the music and Dylan helps write lyrics along with him.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Alt-J, pretty much any band still making rock music currently.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Green Day was a big one for all of us, but we all grew up on classic rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Who, RUSH, etc.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

We all do things differently, you usually can find Deric and Dylan sitting down tuning or just trying to relax before the show and Izzy is all over the place. (Laughs)

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

We opened up for the infamous rapper Afroman a few months back and that was extremely fun. We’ve also played sold out shows at a lot of venues around Saint Louis such as Cicero’s.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

We’d love to tour with Real Friends. Not really sure why, but hanging with Dan sounds dope.
