Difficult though it may be to admit, a little myth-making is necessary when promoting a band. It is necessary partly because it’s expected and also because myth-making is in many ways the essence of promotion--it is a sell of sorts, after all. In this respect, War Baby has a distinct advantage, as the story of the band applies so much to a great narrative that one need only to flesh it out, so to speak, and it takes on the qualities of myth. The story of the band may not necessarily be hard-knock, but what they have achieved has certainly been hard-won, and just as the bellicose implications of their slyly sex/death name suggest, this is a band whose gains have and will be made with sticks and fire.
