Two House Bills Seek To Legalize Marijuana

Two separate House Bills were filed on Friday that would legalize marijuana at the federal level. Representative Jared Polis (D-Colorado) introduced the Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Act while Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-Oregon) introduced the separate Marijuana Tax Revenue Act.

The Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Act would decriminalize marijuana at the Federal level, to leave to the States a power to regulate marijuana that is similar to the power they have to regulate alcohol, and for other purposes. The Marijuana Tax Revenue Act would go in tandem with the former and impose tax on marijuana.
