Neal Avron Looks Back On ‘From Under the Cork Tree’

Neal Avron wrote a blog on MySpace (of all places) where he reminisces meeting Fall Out Boy and reflects on recording From Under the Cork Tree.

When we finished the record I thought we had some strong songs. I didn’t know what kind of acceptance would be out there for Fall Out Boy. They had a pretty hardcore following but it was contained still at that point. First of all I thought “Dance, Dance” was going to be that first single. I thought it had that up-tempo thing and was so different from anything on radio groove-wise and vocally. I thought it would stand out, and the label went with “Sugar.” The video was very interesting and different and eclectic. I think that stood out and really helped the record. I had no idea it would debut at No. 9 or have the immense success that it did. I thought it could have success but I certainly didn’t walk in expecting it.

Is Grooveshark Back?

It hasn't even been a week since Grooveshark's been shut down and there is already a mock site up. A man who calls himself "Shark" has been waiting for Grooveshark to be shut down and backed up approximately 90% of the music. On the website it states that "they respect the artists and if they want any copyrighted material taken down to contact through email". You can check out the new "Grooveshark" right here. Do you think it's a good thing or bad thing that someone put up a new site? Be sure to leave a comment and tell us!

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 Is Coming

If you're old like me, you'll remember playing the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series back when they were released on the PS1/N64. Tony Hawk had been teasing everyone for months about a new game and now it's come to fruition via Game Informer. Let's hope the soundtrack is more akin to the original games.

Putting to rest months of cryptic tweets from Tony Hawk, Activision and developer Robomodo have officially announced Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 – a return to the classic gameplay of the series’ heyday.

The game is slated to come out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later in the year, with PS3 and Xbox 360 versions following shortly thereafter.

As the name indicates, Pro Skater 5 is a call back to the old-school lineage of the first four titles – back when the franchise was in its prime. The game weds the series’ finely tuned gameplay with new additions such as power-ups and the ability to shoot projectiles for specific missions.
