4chan Founder Reveals Why He Retired

Christopher Poole, founder of 4chan, was interviewed by Rolling Stone on why he left the site.

Though he'd been thinking about leaving the site for at least a year, he'd finally had enough after enduring what he tells me was "probably the most stressful month of my life." Part of his motivation was a question that 4channers had been asking for years: "What happens to 4chan if you were to die?" Poole would deadpan that since his mom was his next of kin, "I guess you're going to be stuck with my mother as your new overlord."

The Movement of New Wave of American Heavy Metal

MetalInjection has a great article about the legacy of New Wave of American Heavy Metal aka metalcore.

As with all musical movements, some bands stayed relevant and retained their fanbase, becoming “legacy acts” (e.g. Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Unearth). Others changed their sound to establish a larger, more mainstream audience (e.g. Avenged Sevenfold). Others fizzled early (e.g. A Dozen Furies, Martyr AD), or slowly faded as the initial buzz and excitement wore off (e.g. Shadows Fall, Chimaira, God Forbid). Still others met with some kind of disaster that makes it impossible to continue (e.g. As I Lay Dying).
