The Ghost Inside - Get What You Give
Record Label: Epitaph Records
Release Date: June 19th, 2012

The Ghost Inside, hailing from Los Angeles, California are a staple for any hardcore or heavy listening diet. The melodic hardcore band will be releasing their third record, Get What You Give, on their their new label, Epitaph Records.

Get What You Give is a no bullshit record. No overly long intros, no orchestrated preludes (I’m not dissing them of course). TGI get down and dirty with their new record and straight into an energetic and heavy guitar riff accompanied by Jonathan Vigil’s vocals with the opening track “This is What I Know About Sacrifice”. An excellent track to open the record with, it doesn’t begin awkwardly, and it sets the mood for the rest of the album, one filled with songs of hope. Now hardcore isn’t normally a genre to incorporate clean vocals, but that’s why TGI is a melodic hardcore band, and with Vigil now doing clean vocals, they compliment everything wonderfully. A perfect example of this is seen in the first track to include them, “Engine 45”, the song taking a break from the heavy side and transitioning into clean vocals and finally an a capella-esque gang vocals ending.

The great thing about this album is that there are few, if any songs, that can be considered filler tracks. Ones used to simply occupy space. Each song has a strong chance of being fan favorites, my personal favorites being the final track “Test The Limits”, “Engine 45”, and “Deceiver”. All in all, the added variety into this album has really done TGI good. GWYG is definitely one of the must have albums of 2012, and I recommend everyone to listen/purchase it when it drops on June 19th.
