Cue a slow melodic opening, slowly building up the intro, and then the splash of a cymbal and the sudden eruption of vocals, followed by perfect drum transition into the next song. This is how Detroit, Michigan’s Hollow Earth decided to open up their maiden Ep: We Are Not Humanity.

The quintet doesn’t go about hardcore in the usual sense. Each track while incorporating some of the typical hardcore elements, makes excellent use of a second guitarist playing an ambient, melodic lead. Vocals are top notch, with the
vocalist using a mixed scream/yell type of singing, complimenting the rest of the instruments well. Not to mention the quality of the tracks are very good, something that is quite impressive for any band’s first EP. Two songs stand out on this EP: On The Bounty of The Gods, which gives the listener the first taste of those unique leads, and On the Precipice, which I personally feel is the strongest track on the album. While the hardcore genre is in no way stale (Unlike this current trend of “Scenecore” trash which seems to have spread across the nation), Hollow Earth is definitely a breath of fresh air, or even better, a new taste in what is already a well diversified genre.

After losing their singer and bassists it looks like Decoder were forced to change their name due to legal issues. Full statement regarding name change and line up change below.

"Alright everyone here it is. As of today our band is now under the name LEAD HANDS. Due to member changes and a lawsuit over our name we were forced to change it. Aside the name change we would like to introduce your to our new guitarist Vinny Capitani and our good friend Liam Thomas on bass and will be taking over the position of clean vocals. In the next few days we will be posting an introduction video and go a little more in depth with what has been happening. Thank you all for your continued support and we love you all more then you know. - Jack Burns of LEAD HANDS(formerly DECODER)”

Close Your Eyes has officially released a statement stating why they departed with their vocalist Shane Raymond

"Recently, there have been many rumors and assumptions about us due to our cancellation of the Symptoms & Cures tour. We regret having to cancel but it was something we needed to do for personal reasons. We appreciate the patience and support from all of our fans. Unfortunately, we have to confirm that Shane will be leaving Close Your Eyes. Touring as much as we do with few breaks in between can be difficult on anyone. The fact of the matter is, Shane has had troubles with his voice and vocal performances due to stress and physical strain. Simply put, he can no longer continue being our vocalist. Touring isn’t for everybody. Some realize it early on, others later. Shane realized he didn’t enjoy touring long ago, but still pursued the road with us despite the mental and physical struggles that came with it. We love Shane and hope for the best in whatever he does from here on out. We hope all of our fans can understand this difficult decision. We appreciate all of the support over the years and still hope to have continued love and devotion from all of you as we have to you.”
