For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to The Hollywood Kills How long has the band been around?

Covington, Farewell Fighter, Static Revival, Frances and the Foundation. The Hollywood Kills has been together for 9 years.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

We were trying to decide on a name for the band and chose The Hollywood Kills. It represents what the hollywood culture does to the real person. Hollywood can be a monster that really changes people. Norma Jean morphing into Marilyn Monroe is a prime example of The Hollywood Kills

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

We all write together. We are inspired by a wide variety of topics. We have written songs about love, heartache, failure, comic book characters, tv show plots, professional wrestlers, and the weather to name a few. We’re always trying to write about different topics, basically anything that we’re really into at that given point in life when inspiration strikes.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Brent: Watching my father and brother perform

Cody: Seeing ZZ Top in the 2nd grade

Preston: Suicide Machines open for Rancid

Johnny: My cousin had a drum set when we were young and he played in a band. 

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Try to not drink alcohol, Stay hydrated, 

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Playing in front of 10,000 people in Hot Springs, Arkansas last month. Touring with The Pretty Reckless

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Brent: Incubus because I could listen to their music every night and not get sick of it

Cody: Led Zeppelin because they are the best rock band of all time.

Preston: Foo Fighters because they sell out arenas.

Johnny: The Hives because they are the most fun and energetic band I’ve ever seen

Is there anything else you would like to add?

We’ve come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass……and we’re all out of bubblegum.
