For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to The Grievance Club? How long has the band been around?

The Grievance Club as it is today has been around for nearly 3 years. Prior to TGC, Cappy has been in many bands, most recently High Titles. Same with Steve, most recent being Envoi.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

The band has evolved since it’s beginning stages, but this is the original name of the band in this phase. The Grievance Club was part of a lyric in an older song, and upon picking a name we decided it would be a good fit.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

We write the music collectively, and our vocalists Harrison and Cappy split the lyric writing. "Personally, a lot of what I write about deals with some of the vices I see in myself on a day to day basis, areas in which I feel I can do or be better but also how I struggle to actually make that the case. I really only know how to write about what's going on inside my head and how I react to feelings and situations” - Harrison.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

We all have our individual inspirations that come together, but overall we tend to gather ideas from bands like Such Gold, The Hotelier, Defeater, The Flatliners, and bands of that nature.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

I wouldn’t say there was a specific moment, but this band was started when we were very young, and going to local shows inspired us to want to be a part of that community.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

We’ve started to implement some preparations to make our shows better, such as vocal warm ups, making sure our instruments are in good condition, and of course, some beer to loosen up.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Our most recent achievement would be the release of our most recent album, “Being of Sound Body & Unsound Mind”. We all feel this was a big progression for us musically. We put a great deal of time, effort, and money to make it possible and we’re all very proud of how it came out.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

We are planning to begin touring soon, hopefully with some great bands at our level. Ideally, touring with bands like Jimmy Eat World, Propagandhi, and Defeater would definitely be a great time.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Please check out our most recent release, “Being of Sound Body & Unsound Mind”, available on Spotify, Bandcamp, iTunes, and more. If you like what you hear, come see us at Snowed In at Mahall’s on November 12th (with Such Gold, Sorority Noise, and tons of other great bands).
