roberts. is a midwestern pop punk band comprised of one person. Using his name as his moniker, Mike Roberts started this journey as an acoustic artist looking to sharpen his songwriting skills. As time progressed and his first two releases "fine" and "split" gained traction, he decided to break further into the full band sound.

For starters, what bands were you a part of prior to roberts? How long has the band been around?

I used to be in a band called Jump So High! I’ve been doing this project for a little over a year now.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

The name is just my name haha. I couldn’t think of anything else that was quirky so I just went with the standard

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

I write and record everything myself. It gives me so much more control over the end product and I love having that. The theme has been kind of centralized around heartbreak for most of the music but it’s changing in the upcoming stuff. More day to day and happy songs

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

I’m drawing a lot of inspiration from bands like seaway, we were sharks and the story so far.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Kind of when I saw blink 182 for the first time, I knew I felt more passion for making music than most of the people I knew

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Yeah I don’t play shows hahaha

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Really just meeting new people and getting to share my stories

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

I just want to tour with my friends bands. It’s all about fun for me.
