For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Promise In Polaroids? How long has the band been around?

I myself (CJ Vandale) used to be in a pop punk band with our drummer Zachary Kerr called Nonsense back in 2012, I also used to be in the post-hardcore band In Vivid Colour who were formerly signed to At Your Command Records back in 2012-2013. Nicholas used to be in a local metal band called Dreadship a while back and this is Robby's first time being in a band.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

The origin of the name Promise In Polaroids comes from back in late 2013 when Promise In Polaroids was an acoustic project fronted by myself and our former guitarist Colten Brass, We agreed we needed a name with meaning that wasn't generic like most band names you see today. I was scribbling down names and quickly realized that it wasn't getting me anywhere. So instead I started to write down meanings hoping that the band name would come to me instead of me searching for it. I ended up writing a paragraph about how people change and wishing how everything could just stay the same, like in pictures. Then the idea that even though people change the memories captured in pictures never will. and thats
the "promise" in Promise In Polaroids.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

I (CJ Vandale) write all our songs. The themes and topics are usually never planned out when I begin writing, I first write and record the instrumentals (guitar, Bass, drums) and then I like to write the lyrics last. I feel a song should come to you freely, instead of you forcing a song to be created. All the best songs in my opinion are written when it seems as if they want to be written.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

I've always been a fan of From First To Last, but we're looking for a more softer sound. Bands that inspire the sound I'm looking for are Hands Like Houses, Tiny Moving Parts, Dream on, Dreamer, Basement, Citizen, Neck Deep, Real Friends, Taking Back Sunday and The Hotelier. A mix of everything pretty much.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Yes definitely, From First To Last will always be the band that inspired me to start creating music since the first time I heard them back in 2005.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

To prepare for a show I like to stretch out my legs, arms, feet and throat so I don't end up suffering whip lash by the next day. I also prepare my vocals with simple vocal exercises.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Promise In Polaroids biggest highlight so far is being featured in Stencil Magazine (UK) the issue we are releasing comes out November 30th.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

If I could tour with ANY bands past or present, on a 5 band roster I'd tour with From First To Last, Taking Back Sunday, Hands Like Houses, and Basement.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I would like to add that our debut E.P. entitled Deer, Dear releases 2015!
