Unsigned Spotlight: Posi Pizza Pals
Posi Pizza Pals are a pop punk band from New York, here to bring you posi tunes, pizza recipes and a whole lotta town hatred.
For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Posi Pizza Pals? How long has the band been around?
Harrison: -Christian and I are both in a metalcore band project called “Distant Tides” with another friend of ours and I do solo music and so does Christian, the band has been around for around since mid September.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
Harrison: The bands name comes from the heart you know? like our number one goal as a band is to play a show to a bunch of positive kids who are holding slices of pizza and shouting “I hate this town”
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Harrison: Lyrically, the songs are about a change in the world, sending out a positive and relatable message to all the kids, I feel once the band breaks up and we become “Not So Posi Pizza Pals” the lyrics will focus towards negativity.
Christian: Instrumentally I try to play some of the most positive chords I can think of. Chords that the kids can really relate to.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Christian: I'd like to think that the music we’re making is a crossroad of Cannibal Corpse, Barry White, and Matty Mullins' solo project
Harrison: Definitely Black Veil Brides, The Jonas Brothers, Nickelback and Blood On The Dance Floor.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Christian: Definitely The Cheetah Girls
Harrison: S Club 7 definitely.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
Christian: I do naked Pilates for a half hour while reciting the mantra "I am better than kevin jonas"
Harrison: I also do this with him also.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
Harrison: This interview
Christian: Yeah, this interview definitely.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Christian: The Cheetah Girls and Ellie Goulding
Harrison: S Club 7, The Backstreet Boys and The Jonas Brothers
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Christian: If you're not supposed to do it, its probably fun. unless it's fat chicks...
Harrison: Shout out to Andrew in the Defend Pop Punk Group, if it wasn’t for his massive obsession with Bryan Stars I never would of started watching his videos and gotten the inspiration to start making music!
